Our true beauty is not about our cute external features. Instead, it is about what goes on within us – the thoughts and attitudes of our hearts (1 Peter 3:3-4).
As Jesus’ followers, when we consistently yield to the Word and the promptings of the Holy Spirit who lives and dwells in us, our character and conduct will reflect God’s loving nature. The result is that we will become more and more like Him.
Inward Beauty through the Word
I chose the phrase “Inward Beauty through the Word” as the tagline for this blog because it reflects the story of my life. It is my testimony of how the Word of God transformed my life and how God has filled me with His love, joy, and peace exceedingly, abundantly, above all I could have ever imagined.
I was a teenager with low self-esteem who looked for love and acceptance in all the wrong places but didn’t find it. But after God’s Word illuminated my life, I got born-again, and Jesus set the course of my life in the right direction for eternity.
For many years after receiving Christ, I didn’t bear much fruit. I was not maturing in Christ, and I was definitely not beautiful on the inside. As a result, my fruitlessness stunted my spiritual growth. At a certain point, I felt like God tapped me on the shoulder and said, “Chizobam wake up and grow up.” That was when I really began to walk with Christ and obey Him.
The truth is that by believing in Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, God makes us new creatures, holy in His sight and without spot or wrinkle (Colossians 1:22, 2 Corinthians 5:17). Our salvation is fully based on Christ, not us (2 Timothy 1:9). However, having been made new creatures in Christ Jesus, we need to grow up (Colossians 3:10, 1 Peter 2:2). Otherwise, we will not fulfill our call on earth.
Jesus is the Living Word
Jesus is the Living Word of God (John 1:1, Revelation 19:13). I have been transformed by my relationship with Him and by studying, meditating, and obeying the written Word through the power of the Holy Spirit. The more I fellowship with Him through the Word, the more I get transformed into His image (2 Corinthians 3:18).
I have to admit that I’ve fallen and failed innumerable times, but this I do; I pick myself up, forget what is behind, and press on toward the goal (Philippians 3:14). So today, like Apostle Paul, I can say the words, “I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20).
So this is why I write.
My writing is a reflection of my journey to inward beauty and maturity in Christ. Some of my posts are personal, and some are more didactic. The more scholarly articles are based on what God is teaching me, while the personal ones reflect my journey with the truth that has set me free.
I invite you to journey with me, and my prayer is that this blog will encourage you to grow up spiritually and become more and more beautiful on the inside through the Living Word, Jesus Christ.
AMEN!!
