GUEST POST
The post below was written by Krista Halbig, a child of the Most-High God, Pastor’s wife, and Mom to three. She wears the many hats that come with her role as a Pastor’s wife with grace, strength, and compassion.
When my two older girls were very young, Krista diligently taught them how to study the Bible and apply God’s truth to their lives. For that, I will be forever grateful. Thank you, Krista!

“If we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself.” 2 Timothy 2:13
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things, there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23
What is Faithfulness?
Faithfulness is simply the act of being faithful. To be faithful is to be loyal, constant, and true to one’s word, promise, or vow. These are powerful words that are not always easy or natural to fulfill.
Just like the other fruit of the Spirit, faithfulness will not fall into our laps like ripe cherries falling off a tree. On the other hand, we must make a conscious decision to yield to the Holy Spirit, who helps us cultivate this fruit and work at it until it becomes evident in our lives.
Being a faithful person, and living a life of steadfast commitment, stems from our relationship with God.
Do we see Him as faithful?
Have we taken notice of His faithfulness to us in moments when we may not think He is faithful?
God is Faithful
God can be nothing other than faithful. His faithfulness is so great that even though it was an extremely difficult sacrifice to make, Jesus went to the cross out of His steadfast commitment to us. Jesus remained faithful to His mission to provide atonement for our sins and reconcile us to a peaceful relationship with God.
God is always faithful, even when we don’t notice. My go-to song lately has been “Way Maker,” originally by Sinach. There is a line in the song that says, “Even when I don’t see it, You’re working. Even when I don’t feel it, You’re working.” We may not always take notice of the faithfulness of God, but it is always there.
Responding to the Faithfulness of God
If we want to walk in the fruit of faithfulness, I believe we need to slow down and meditate on God’s unshakable faithfulness to us. When we do this, we will see the above definition come to life. We will see the perfect example of steadfast commitment. Then, we will know that He is constant in our lives. We will experience His loyalty, and we will appreciate that He remains true to His Word.
We learn from God. As we abide in His Word and yield to the Holy Spirit, we become more like Him. The Holy Spirit teaches us to deny our selfish desires and choose God’s way instead. He is faithful, and from Him, we can learn how to be unwavering in our commitment to Him and others.
When we allow the Holy Spirit to guide and control us through obedience to God’s Word, the outcome of our lives is that we will faithfully run the race marked out for us from beginning to end.
God has been so faithful to me, and I desire to be faithful to Him. Have I struggled? Yes. But He is faithful to help me get up and try again and again if I have to. As we learn to be faithful to God, it overflows to everyone else in our lives. They will then see Jesus through our faithfulness.
There are so many Scriptures in the Bible on the faithfulness of God. Take time to discover them, study, meditate on them, and learn to walk in faithfulness through the power of the Holy Spirit who lives in you.
